Over the course of his career, Dr. Webb has worked at the intersection of healthcare delivery, community engagement, and leadership—helping organizations improve outcomes while addressing the structural factors that shape health at the population level.

Dr. Webb brings more than two decades of experience across academic, safety-net, and community-based health systems. He is perhaps best known for his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of Nashville General Hospital, where he served for ten years and led wide-ranging initiatives to improve quality, access, and system performance. During that time, the hospital advanced nationally recognized approaches to population health, community partnership, and equity-focused care delivery. While his executive leadership informs his work, Dr. Webb’s focus today extends beyond any single institution to the broader challenge of how health systems can operate more effectively and equitably.

A central theme of Dr. Webb’s work is health literacy—which he views as a foundational driver of health outcomes, cost, and patient engagement. His work is grounded in systems thinking, emphasizing how leadership, structure, and design influence outcomes across entire populations. His research and applied leadership emphasize that improving health outcomes requires not only access to care, but systems designed to support understanding, trust, and coordinated action. This perspective informs both his consulting engagements and his speaking, where he challenges leaders to address health literacy and equity as system-level responsibilities rather than downstream problems.

Dr. Webb holds a Doctor of Science in Health Services Administration, is board-certified in Healthcare Management, and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. He also holds a Master of Science in Hospital and Health Services Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Master of Science from Tennessee State University. His scholarly and applied work has contributed to the development of the Webb Health Equity Model, a research-based framework that examines how structural, social, and organizational factors influence health outcomes—and how leaders can respond with scalable, evidence-informed strategies.
